Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, our leaders failed to pass a budget, the US government was shuttered, and I decided to run for President of the United States of America in 2028.
For now, I will introduce myself as John. I will release my identity and full name once these posts have coalesced and I find myself on some state ballots for the Presidency.
At the present moment, this is a creative writing project to lay out the problems our society faces, and the solutions as I see them. I find myself in vocational transition but my passions are so broad and the problems so many, I am unsure which direction to follow. The problems I perceive are all multifaceted, difficult, and inextricably intertwined
It wasn’t so much the shutdown itself that gave me pause and emboldened me to run for President of the United States on this day, as the social media messaging regarding the shutdown by The White House Facebook Page. You can review the post in question below, click on the text to view the image, or the link to view on Facebook.

Facebook post by The White House on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 at 6:31 PM with text: “Our social media manager was furloughed, but making America great again isn’t {US Flag Emoji}.
The text was accompanied by a meme including a US themed monster truck rolling over cars in an incorrect aspect ratio, the words: “our social media manager was furloughed but” in Times New Roman, “MAKE” in green and red Word Art, a PNG of the US Flag with the checkered transparency layer included, “America” in red Word Art in a third font, and “great again” in blue gradient Word Art in a fourth font. The bottom right corner of the meme features a bald eagle.
It actually would be quite the funny post if not for the subject matter. I love the attempt to portray the administration as unskilled at meme authorship, which is reasonable given the age of the US President for the last decade or so. I further appreciate the use of aspect ratio, Word Art, and non-transparent PNG to commit to this joke.
Yet when you step back and consider the implications of US government being shutdown and its employees being furloughed without pay, it is no longer amusing whatsoever.
It must not seem like a big deal to the President, divorced from the material reality of his subjects.
It will likely be a matter of life and death for at least a few of our neighbors, at the very least has the potential to radically alter the trajectory of their life.
I know from the employment perspective it would be difficult to go seven (7) days without pay and still meet my various financial obligations and dietary requirements. And I don’t have children or other dependents. And I don’t live in one of the most expensive places to live right now. And I have a partner that is supportive and can mostly handle our shared expenses.
I know if I had any vacation time at the moment, and I had planned a trip to see Museums in DC or one of our national parks, I would be bitterly disappointed.
I know if I relied on the federal government to fund my disability payments, or supplement my heating bill, or fund my child’s education, or provide the life sustaining medical care I needed, I would be anxious as to how this will shake out.
And here we have the White House shit posting on Facebook.
Our leaders’ immaturity and complete abdication of responsibility has forced my hand.
Year over year the quality of our representation (or at the very least their ability to work together to get the job done) is deteriorating, and alongside that our quality of life is falling with innumerable other metrics, concerns, and realities.

The following posts will be titled with the overall policy area, and within I will share the solution I perceive. I welcome any feedback you may consider when reading the policy positions, and I look forward to cocreating a new vision for the United States of America with you all.
Be well and go forth with kindness for yourself and others.
